YOU'RE INVITED TO MAINE RAIL HERITAGE DAY
In cooperation with the New Hampshire and Maine Departments of Transportation, City of Portland Department of Ports and Transportation, Concord Trailways, Operation Lifesaver, Bay Ferries, Casco Bay Lines, Portland International Jetport, Coca-Cola, Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority, AMTRAK, Loon Mountain Comfort Inn, White Mountain Attractions, Trainriders Northeast, The Flying Yankee Restoration Group, Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad, Seashore Trolley Museum, and Boston Red Sox.
Former Red Sox shortstop Johnny Pesky and noted broadcaster Dick Flavin will be featured speakers at the rollout of the former railroad business car used by Ted Williams on his vacations to Maine. YES, that Ted Williams! The event is part of the Hobo Railroad's celebration of Maine's rail heritage on Saturday June 24th. Featured will be the well known former business and parlor cars of the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad (#100 & 103) which have been restored to operating condition and will be rechristened at a series of special events which will also feature tours of the famous FLYING YANKEE, viewing of locomotives and equipment that once served in Maine and river valley rail trips. Dignitaries from the Maine and New Hampshire Departments of Transportation, the City of Portland, and transportation providers from northern New England will also participate.
